London Bridges Are Definitely Not Falling Down

I’m still very much in the process of learning how to work advertising on social media to find my tribe, but so far, I have to say that I am really happy about the ties that are binding.

In January, DJWheelUp and I discovered each other via an IG ad and co-wrote a song, Its been cool to watch the West London DJ become a hot sensation, who is appearing on BBC podcasts and radio shows and Spotify playlists everywhere.

I lllooovvveee the song I wrote with DJWheelUp as his music inspired Stevie Wonder’s Do I Do as my reference track as well as Chaka in general. To get that type of track during the trap era is like one giving a bouquet of the most brilliant flowers in early spring. The production did create a sort of spring during winter considering that much of the song was written while I was outside walking and while I am excited to hear what DJWheelUp does with the song, I can’t wait to hear it with a live band this summer!

Then, in February, another London based team, Tru-Light Productions and I talked our way to the idea of “Black Clouds” remixes which… and I could take oath to this fact… I prayed would happen because I love the song so much—shout out to Phil Lewis. When I heard the first round of remixes by Tru-Light, the second project, I was mystified at how DJs can take an acapella and create whole new bodies work based on those vocals. Their imaginations clearly run wild as they create drops that will have listeners spinning on the dance floor.

But what’s been an amazing aspect of these new musical connections are the conversations, the trading of ideas, business acumen, the juggling of time differences, the kindness and straightforward trading of this is how I do it, this is how we should do it. It feels like growth and expansion, and I love that. So, shout out to Astro and Londonsi… here’s to making people move and bright possibilities of collective growth!
